5 Year VW Driveline Warranty (includes DSG)

    Hey All

Just had an interesting conversation with a Dealer.

Apparently, VW is about to update their Warranty Policy to include a 5year / 150,000kms 'driveline' warranty on ALL VW Cars due to all the problems reported globally.

There's not much detail as yet, but basically what they are saying is that anyone with any kind of Gearbox problems (manual or DSG), after your 3 year warranty is up, you will have some peace of mind for the next two years.

They said it would be more of a 'goodwill' gesture and would allow dealers to approach VAG to put through any warranty work on gearboxes outside the 3 year standard warranty.

Will keep in contact with the dealer and see what comes out of it.

Interesting and certainly welcome if true. Would it include cars already purchased, or only those purchased after the policy is introduced?

Pretty sure it's for all cars from 2009.

He hinted that it would be a 'goodwill' but the dealers would be the ones to suggest a car to be included.

Friends that purchased a demo Golf last week (with the 7spd) were told it was 5 years on the box.

If it's a goodwill sorta thing then dealerships will only give it to you if it's always been serviced with a VW dealership. They already fix problems after warranty through "goodwill" but only if you've always serviced it with VW.

Pretty sure it will be any dealer - they're admitting that there's a bigger global problem out there!

Does this mean instead of giving VW a piece of our mind, we are getting peace of mind from them?

Yes it needs to be any VW dealer. There are a few of us that service our cars at specialists.

    Extended Driveline Warranty

I'm guessing people with an ECU tune are still screwed when trying to claim warranty on the DSG. Although I'd love to hear VW blame the ECU tune

I can also confirm this. At the time of ordering, the dealer confirmed that VW had rolled out a 5 year replacement warranty on the DSG gearbox. Naturally, I asked him to put this into writing but said the warranty documentation would be updated to reflect the change.
