    Replacement Boot Emblem

    Hi guys and girls,
I have a real noob question for you, please don't shoot me down, I have not been able to find the answer after searching the forums.

I've got a 2004 2.0FSi that has a dodgy boot emblem (the VW one not the model badge).

First, where can I buy a new real emblem at a good price? Is the dealer an option? or is it better from OS?
I'm just after a standard VW emblem for the boot.

Next, is there a DIY to replacing said boot emblem?

    Thanks

    Cristian

You mean the badge combined with the boot handle?

You can get them off eBay, or post a WTB here. I have one (in Brisbane) that I coated Matt Black, and then bought a gloss black emblem for a MkVI (that didn't fit). So make sure you get an MkV one as the MkVI have different mounting pins
    Al..
Edit: The ones on ebay seem to have a flat base, not the curved two piece like mine

    Question

Yep your right it's the one that is the boot handle.

I think the image your talking about has gone to the interwebs gremlins, but if its the silver GTI with the new taillights then yes your right.

I haven't had much luck finding a proper emblem on eBay. But I also haven't tried looking for the whole handle assy, I just assumed that I would be able to remove the emblem, but leave the handle in place.

Thanks for the offer for your matt version, but I would like to retain the "shiny". I only have 2.0FSI, yesetrday I got told it was the car people buy that don't want to do anything with....

Thanks Brimway, but can't seem to find normal chrome emblems, only the blackout ones.
Maybe just having a noob look, but any further direction is appreciated.

This is the later "3d" style one, yeh?
Mine has the earlier not 3d version with the white worm eating the chrome.
It looks like I may have to upgrade to a 3d version to get it right and stop it happening again.

VW quoted $385.00 for a new mechanism and the emblem is not separated. The 3d ones come in at about $100 from the UK with a mechanism as well.

Just got to convince my wife its a good thing

    I got lucky.
I've bought a 3d emblem and mechanism off eBay got $26.
Hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get home from Canberra this week.

I didn't think of that - you could have had mine (maybe not for $26...)
