Need Advice dealer says Mechatronics failure , Im not sure.

    My07 TDI 6 speed DSG.
    90% has been freeway driving.

Had my car serviced recently , has all the schedule services by VW dealer.
    Now showing 82000km.

Do not have any issues with the DSG , never have , drives smoothly enough.
Did notice it was not as smooth as the 7 speed DSG loan car.

The only reason this is showing its head is because I said to dealer it seemed
a little jerky from time to time, which is not true, I just wanted to see what
the dealer came up with during its service after reading all about the DSG issues.

So dealer had car overnight and has come back saying its out of VW's parameters
and needs the mechatronics replacing , from memory said about 3-4 grand but will
put in a good will claim.

Dealer rings today to say the good will claim is approved by VW but I need to pay $600

So what should I do, as I have no issues with the box is the dealer just trying to make
some money out of VW and myself.
Should I go ahead and have it replaced knowing I should not have any future issues
    with it.

    Some advice would be appreciated,

Imagine now declining the kind offer from VW and then having something go wrong?

$600 would just about cover the labour, if you were paying for it to be done.

6 year old car out of warranty, 2 year warranty on the new mechatronics.

    Your call.

for peace of mind, do it.

DSG could cost you a lot more, might help future buyer feel less hesitant (with all the negativity around DSG's).

Ask if they can keep the old component for you to see (I do wonder about some servicing you'd not be able to see done), keep it on the mantle.

If it's warranty / goodwill then the part being subsidised by VW remains their property.

I'd get it done. New mechatronics unit, new oil, etc. Bargain.

Good God. Hundreds of posts on here about fighting tooth and nail to get it done and being denied and you have been offered it for a bargain price and dont want to do it.

I realise you perhaps think it doesnt need it but take what you can get may be $6000 next year if it lets go fully.

    Agreed.

You only get one offer. Take it or leave it. $600 isn't a whole lot of money, given what the parts are worth.

Also, I don't see how requesting to see the old Mechatronics is going to prove anything. You can't physically see the fault, and it could be any old Mechatronics they've had lying around because the one that came out of your car, is probably already on it's way back to Germany for refurbishment.

Need Advice dealer says Mechatronics failure , Im not sure.

I would also recommend having it changed.
But seems people missed the point on why it needs replacement. If you only said it was faulty out of curiosity to see how dealer would react and it wasn't
You need to find out why it's been considered faulty. I do not believe a dealer would be stupid enough to lodge a false wty claim. If they did they run the risk of having claim denied.
