    Car Issue!

My '06 MKV has all of a sudden started playing up. It basically happened after accelerating from a stationary start where I had a slight loss of traction through the front wheels. Was 100% perfect the moment before and then not quite right immediately after.

    The symptoms are as follows:

    1. Cruise control no longer works
    2. After pushing in the clutch to change gears, the revs actually jump higher before dropping in the lower gear. The faster I accelerate and the higher the revs, the more they jump/increase (jump 500 rpm + at times)
    3. Now have jolty, rough gears changes. Pressing the clutch in makes the car jolt. This happens even at really low speeds and is actually more pronounced in gears 1 & 2.
    4. Through the rev range, the power delivering is not as smooth and car hesitates at times. The best way to describe this is it 'surges' a little.
    5. Issue (2) above, more often than not DOES NOT happen when taking off from a standing start ie. first gear. Taking off from a set of traffic lights usually seems to avoid the rev hang issue in all gears until I reach a cruising state or then start lowering gears/slowing down etc. where the issue will then return. Jolty, rough gear changes and 'surge' still exists though.

    What I've done:
    1. I've had the clutch switch replaced which had no impact whatsoever.
    2. 60k km service and timing belt change (performed by Seb)

I did manage to find this thread on vwvortex which sounds awfully similar but unfortunately I have been unable to track down how it was resolved in the end and it seems the member is no longer active.

    VWVortex.com - Rev hang??

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Just wanted to add

Car was bluefin'd for about 2000 km's and had an intake but has now been returned to stock and there has been little to no improvement.

To rule out the Bluefin tune just revert it back to standard and see if it makes a difference?

Maybe something to do with the Dual Mass flywheel? Apparently its a common problem but not sure what the symptoms are.

This is a fly-by-wire throttle control — check if anything's sticking (pedal return spring, flap motor etc?)

Might need the throttle body cleaned.

I agree, I'd be seeking a professional opinion. A reputable mechanic should be able to pick this easily.

Thanks everyone. I'll take note and have these investigated. I actually managed to get in contact with the guy from VWVortex who was quite helpful and advised what steps he took to test the ECU and turns out his ECU needed replacing :s

Just need to find someone with vag-com in the area to hopefully start working out exactly what is wrong.

Any more thoughts or advice is always welcome...! Thanks again
