    Show us yer OPS mate

What does your OPS look like on your screen? Particularly the colours?

I have a 2008 Octavia. I have a VW RNS510 in my car and the possibility of a Skoda one (which is one hardware model older). I've put in factory parking sensors.

I'm getting different pictures on the screen with the OPS. I'm not sure if it's due to the different model numbers of the RNS510 (H60 & H61), or just a cosmetic difference between VW and Skoda displays.

With the VW RNS510 I get pictures something like this (but 4 segments each end of the car):

But with the Skoda unit they look like this:

Very interested in this if someone could chime in. Especially as I'm looking to retrofit this in the very near future!

To OP: Was it hard to fit?

The Skoda columbus has different lights and a different skin compared to the RNS510. The buttons on the columbus are green and the rns' are red. More importantly, some of the steering wheel controls don't work 100% on the octavia with the rns, I think its volume.

I know this because I actually put the RNS510 from my written off Polo into my sisters Octavia. I was able to get the steering wheel controls and skin to work on it thanks to Audiupgrades which had the special RNS diag tool to trick the firmware to think its a columbus.

So if you have a choice and the columbus isn't tooo old (ie it has the led screen, look for the voice control button top right), I'd pick that!

Not that hard to get the bumpers off. Very tricky getting neat holes - I did ok, but it doesn't look factory. I used a forstner spade bit. Running the wires is time consuming. There's a spot down behind the battery where you can pierce a rubber grommet to get through the firewall.

A rear camera may be a better option. The sensors are handy, but if I had to choose one or the other, I'd go with the camera - or both, which I'll soon have.

Yes, the Skoda Columbus has pale green lights, the VW version has red. Also the splash screen when you start the unit is branded for each car (you can customise that, which I tried a while ago, but it didn't work).

I actually had the steering wheel buttons working fine with the VW unit in my Skoda, but with the Skoda unit in the Skoda they don't work. This makes me think it is a coding issue. Not sure why it stopped when I put the Skoda unit in. Maybe it needs to be coded again the same way just because it sees a new radio and isn't sure what it is.

The only on screen difference I could see was the OPS display (as described above), so I'd really like if people with a Skoda could say what there's looks like and what vintage their car or Columbus is. Also possibly the colour scheme is green in the Skoda unit - I think it was reddish brown in the VW.

Thanks, that's what I need to know. So it's just a cosmetic difference between VW and Skoda (I actually prefer the look of the VW one though).

Tried recoding for an RNS, but the steering wheel buttons don't work. Very odd - it's a Skoda unit in a Skoda!
