    Drivers side door lock

I hit the remote and all the doors lock except the drivers door
For the past week I could see the button would not go down the whole way but if I unlocked then locked again it would?
    Any ideas?
If I use the key it pulls the lock button all the way down

If you have a T5 I think your lock could be about to fail, If so, I would recommend to not deadlocking your doors
until you can get it fixed, otherwise you might end up with a door you can't get open.

I would think it will be a failing door lock mechanism. How handy are you at pulling things apart?

Ithought it would need a new lock but I dont understand why it works fine if I press the lock button inside ? All the doors lock fine and the drivers button goes down then!

    Door Lock Faults

There is an outside chance of voltage loss to that one lock due to a bad connection somewhere,
but from experience with these the symptoms usually means a failing lock mechanism.
By pushing the lock button it might be able to overcome a stiffness or binding of the mechanism,
or disturbing a high resistance soldered joint internally. A new lock from VW Aust dealers is ~$350.00
There are many overseas suppliers with better prices. P/n 3B2837015AM (get dealer to check)

had a intermittently stuck doorlock, noisy in operation.

there is also a known problem with wiring at/near the convenience unit under the drivers seat that causes central locking faults.A soldered connection corrodes and causes faults/low voltage.Resoldering the connection usually fixes it.May not be your problem though
On mine, a blue with red stripe wire with a black spliced onto it(the one with the black tape on it).Approx 6 inches from the unit .Removed drivers seat to make it easy to get at.

Can sympathise with you but in reverse mine occasionally won't unlock have to use the key for the drivers door then it will be fine for weeks or more , I'm sort of over it . Rebuild / Have got to ask the question is the black wire supposed to be joined like is that the soldered join you refer to ?
