Hey guys, I've figured out how to use the 9W7 bluetooth without having the Touchscreen in. I also found out how to turn the a2dp off so iPhones don't cut out when plugged in via the MDI.

This is a rough tutorial because I literally got my car this afternoon, you will need a VCDS Cable (HEX+CAN Model)

First up make sure your phones BT is off! It'll reject the coding if its connected to something
Load up VCDS -> Select Control module -> 77 - Telephone
    In the Telephone select coding.

If you want to just disable the No Touchscreen Error (but keep a2dp) enter this code... (the New coding code)

If you want to disable AD2P and the No Touchscreen Error enter this code (the New Coding code)

Click do it, close VCDS and then add you phone to VW Phone (controlled via the MFD). You can now remove the touch screen and live a merry life

Superb! and great news that youve got your car!

I spoke to VWA today and they said they havent had anyone moan about the BT touchscreen or its fitment. They did say its factory and cannot be undone by them and that I should talk to my dealer... so we are stuck with it.

So happy there is a way to not have the touchscreen thing fitted. well done that man!

Can I ask where you got the VCDS cable from in the end?

I got mine from Harding Performance. Costs a pretty penny from there, but it was for a work install and they let me keep it afterwards

Well that's interesting and I believe a furphy.
A senior customer care guy that I have been dealing with for sometime told me they have had people phoning to complain, I was one of them......this was already back in Feb.
Really depends on who answers your call with VGA....I've struck a couple that have left me wondering how they still work there.

You do still realize that if you remove the unit plus the cradle there will still be a hole in your dash, it's great that readerr0r has found a way to bypass the touchscreen unit though

Cheers for cable info, I was hoping to find a cheap one on ebay but its not as simple as i had hoped...

GTI mk6 - I wasnt suggesting you were telling fibs, just reporting what they said which would be the party-line i guess. And if you follow my posts I also agree that it depends on who you get and I have had to tell one of their senior people that one guy is never allowed to ring me again as it was bordering on stalking in a arrogant, rude and obnoxious way. Anyway the lady i spoke to yesterday was helpful but it seems they dont want to help us with the BT touchscreen unit, the partyline on that was 'its a factory fit, nothing we can do about it...', I did suggest VWA had decided it was to be fitted and it could be solutioned properly and she said 'speak to your dealer...', I wasnt sure how they could help and she seemed to think they would... yeah right!

@ Jon W.....I was directing this comment soley at VGA..., sorry for confusion as I should have added VGA to my furphy comment.
LOL, didn't even consider you were directing this to me mate......

I just get so annoyed with all the misinformation we get fed, especially at dealership level.
I take everything they say with a grain of salt these days.......always a confidence booster when the customer has to keep correcting the salesperson on features and updated bulletins (not) then to listen to the fact that they are so busy they don't have time to download these bulletins cause the system has changed and requires this now. Priceless!

Last night I looked at the generic email from VGA informing me of my vin # and how they are going to inform me once th car is on its way to Melbourne....they can't even honour what they put in writing....car was on its way back on 6/3 and been here since 21/4.
Quicker than the non existent follow up email huh.
I know this has happened to a few customers also.....again just more poor customer service and I will be letting them know

Yep, have followed your posts and do recall your post on the obnoxious dude, may be the same one I am referring to?

    Rant over

no worries mate, I just didnt want to mis represent what you said etc.

I totally agree with the mis information... a case in point is my lovely email from VW where it states... (and i quote):

    "Dear Jon,

Thank you for your recent order of a Polo GTI. We are delighted that you have chosen Volkswagen, and we're sure it will all be worth the wait.

As your dealer mentioned, the Polo GTI is a very popular car. Subsequently, global demand has been high and Volkswagen is working around the clock to fulfil current orders. Unfortunately, this popularity has translated into a longer waiting period than usual.

To make this wait as bearable as possible, Volkswagen Australia has set up a dedicated program to keep you up-to-date with the status of your vehicle, notifying you at various stages until arrival.

We have also arranged a dedicated line you can phone with any queries. This could be anything from when or where will my vehicle be built to how does it get to Australia. The Volkswagen call centre receives status updates every week, so is the most up-to-date source on information about your vehicle.

To check on your order, all you have to do is call the number below and provide your Commission Number:

    1800 504 076"

So.... that 'dedicated line'... Hmm... I rang it yesterday and found it was the normal Customer Services line, so was stuck in a queue for 10mins after choosing from a bunch of options that didnt relate to my query... so much for a 'dedicated line'.

When I did speak to someone they wanted my name, dealer i bought from and a bunch of other info... So much for 'all you have to do is call the number below and provide your Commission Number".

C'mon VWA... sort yourselves out! Customer service is really not that hard!

Don't get me started on the dealer... Even tho i placed my order way after the 12.5 spec was released they had no idea the comfort pack, MDI, Radio etc were now in the standard spec and charged me for them. They sorted it out later, but they should have known that stuff, they get sent, and should read, the bulletins.

    Hi guys.

I purchased my 2012 Polo about a month ago. I was disappointed to find the tacky removable Bluetooth 'Touch Adapter Voice v2' unit installed in the car and have been looking for the best way to get it out ever since.

In the last month I've done some serious investigation as to how this thing works, and I've found the ultimate solution for my iPhone and this installation.

The solution that ships from the factory is two-fold:
    - VW Mobile Preparation Plus (Volkswagen Zubehör.*The mobile phone preparation Plus) (appears as VW PHONE when searching via BT)
    - VW Touch Adapter Voice v2 (Volkswagen Zubehör.*The next generation: |The Bluetooth ® Touch-Adapter-Voice and Touch-Adapter-Voice 2) (appears as Touch Adapter v2 when searching via BT)

The Touch Adapter Voice bluetooth touch screen connects via Bluetooth to the VW Mobile Preparation Plus base/holder and then the VW Mobile Preparation Plus base/holder connects via wire to the car stereo/built-in microphone. In my case, it's the RCD310.

When the iPhone is connected to the above solution, it connects over Bluetooth to the Touch Adapter Voice, which in turn connects via Bluetooth to the VW Mobile Phone Preparation base, and then over wire to the car stereo. In this installation, the audio quality for both voice calls and Bluetooth audio is rubbish, keeps dropping out and stereo audio (i.e.; streaming music from iPod/iPhone) is shote.

(iPhone >> Touch Adapter v2 [Bluetooth] //then// Touch Adapter v2 >> VW PHONE [Bluetooth]).

In seeking a charging/good voice quality docking solution, initial investigation lead me to the Bury family of products. It's clear that the Touch Adapter v2 is manufactured by Bury and has been re-flashed/re-skinned. I purchased the Bury System 9 Cradle for iPhone, and while it fits and charges the phone, it wouldn't allow me to connect over Bluetooth to VW PHONE. As mentioned in the above post re: VAGCOM, VW PHONE appears only when an approved accessory is fitted.

It turns out that Volkswagen Germany actually have genuine phone cradles available to fit to the Mobile Preparation Plus base. I searched eBay high and low until I found this:

    Original VW iPhone4 Adapter 3C0051435CDiphone 4 VW Telefon Adapter 3C0051435CD | eBay

It arrived today and I installed it. It works great.

The VW original mobile phone holder, iPhone 4 is the cradle that snaps into the Mobile Preparation Plus, it then allows direct connection over Bluetooth to VW PHONE (Mobile Preparation Plus), and has two buttons on the front. One enables voice control/command of the Mobile Preparation plus, and accepts/rejects calls, the other button dials a pre-programmed VW service telephone number. The buttons on the front also light up red (like the dash) when the headlights are turned on, and it charges the phone. Bluetooth audio streaming is superb and call quality great.

The part number is 3C0051435CD and it also goes by the name of VW Handy Adapter for iPhone 4.

There's a few on eBay and Amazon. Original VW Handyadapter für IPhone 4G/S | eBay Just make sure you find a seller that ships to Australia.

It also works great with the TomTom app for the iPhone. Audio also streams over Bluetooth.

Hope this helps someone's cause. It's great to have a VW supported Bluetooth/phone/audio solution for their lower-end models.

Let me know if you want photos.

    Cheers,
    Michael.

In addition, it seems like the above accessory isn't available in Australia. If you're after the cradle for iPhone, or any other more common phones, chances are this will need to ship from Germany (or at least somewhere in Europe). You'll be required to find and import these yourself as VGA don't seem to carry these parts.

    Alright, I'll stop now.

    Cheers,
    Michael.

Michael - Awesome post. This is probably going to help alot of us out, but also confuse alot of us even more!

Can you please advise on the following:

    - How did you install the iPhone 4 cradle into the Preparation Plus (is that just the cradle the touch adaptor sits in?)

I am very keen to do this myself on my GTI - i can currently use the Bluetooth that came with the my 9w7 unit under the driver's seat, but having a cradle in the car is also an awesome thing as it means i can charge the phone without having to have it in the glovebox, or using a cigarette lighter attachment of some kind.

It also means I can remove the god awful and crappy looking Bury touch adaptor.

I've found the cradle here also - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/original-...#ht_1716wt_873

I've ordered one, and getting it shipped to a friend in the UK who is going to post it over to me

    Cheers.

    Hi Ligx,

It's precisely that. It snaps straight into the cradle the Touch Adapter sits in. It's super simple and installs with the same motion and movement you use to install the Touch unit. It has a release button on the side, again, same as the Touch Adapter which you press to remove.

Super simple, and the best part is, I can now use the TomTom app on my iPhone and have it in super-easy reach.

Glad you found this of help - I hoped someone would.

    Cheers,
    Michael R.

You'll have to excuse the lack of light - but I think you'll get how simple this is.
