Volkswagen Australia is expected to recall more than 25,000 vehicles after a public outcry over safety concerns.
The German car company is expected to conduct a recall across its Golf, Jetta, Polo, Passat and Caddy models made between June 2008 and September 2011, Fairfax Media reports.
The recall will affect 25,928 vehicles within this range.
It comes after concerns were raised overseas and in Australia about a number of issues related to Volkswagen's direct-shift gearbox (DSG).
Volkswagen Australia said it would contact the customers involved and inspect and replace the mechatronics unit in the DSG.
Similar recalls have already taken place in Japan, Singapore and China.
