Ok. I stand corrected - lucky I only said 'a small amount of money'

Actually, I cut out the flap last week but I've still got the standard air intake. No surprise to hear that it doesn't make any difference - not that I ever really expected it to - although that flap really does look restrictive. I'm going to try and pick up a Seat intake soon and see how it goes.

    Cheers,
    Mark

here's my review of the SEAT intake pipe, coupled with a BMC panel air filter.

    - seems like torque has increased slightly
    - a lot smoother pull through the rev range
    - boost comes on earlier
    - boost holds better past 5,000rpm
    - turbo whistle definitely louder
    - exhaust note a little louder
    - BOV twice as loud!

definitely worth the $250, would recommend to anyone.

I think you'll find its there to deflect cigarette butts flicked out of peoples windows, they did a similar thing to the porsche boxster, installed a snorkel in the right air intake to avoid engine fires from this.. either way if someone flicks a but at your car your probably going to attempt killing them

Very old thread... Anything would still have to pass through the air filter and 3 MAF grills before getting to the turbo. Just cut it.

    Broken Tubes/Pipes

    Hey Shaneth + everyone,

Does anybody happen to know what the two black tubes/pipes running to the left of the air-intake are for? Was doing an oil + filter change on my '06 Polo GTI last night and saw that those pipes on my car had split, I grabbed them to have a look and putting the slightest amount of pressure on them managed to crack them apart completely (brittle from heat & age I assume).

I've taped them up for now (as shown below) until I can get booked in to Austral VW to have them replaced. I'm wondering if driving the car with my "quick fix" in place will do any damage? Can anybody shed some light? Anyone experienced something similar??

    Thanks a heap guys!

    Cheers,
    Scotty

Anyone know the outside circumfrence of the seat PD160 trumpet? I have 3in diameter flexible pipe running from behind the grille to the airbox and am wondering if it will sit snug around the seat trumpet if I fit it.

    thx

Ha, haven't log in here in years. Hey all.

Quick Google seems you can still grab them on ebay as I did.

I just did it recently.. I'm well behind the trend. But I found the cheapest place was jabba sport. Still expensive for some plastic, but it we cheaper than ebay or dark side
