how much for your first service/15k?

I just booked my car in Barloworld Sydney for the standard first year 15k service.
The service rep quoted $410 for the service. Now I just want to know what you guys think and what are
the other offers being made?

I found a recent post on the issue. it ranged from 340 - 440
Still think its a bit much for what their doing. I guess I got a loan car for free

Yeah - there are already several threads on this. Also, it differs depending on the model you have. It also differs based on the facilities and additional services that the dealer offers (courtesy cars, courtesy drop off/pick up, serviced waiting areas etc).

There is also a good website to check the price range (although it doesn't have some of the latest Golf's and obviously not the new Polo):

This site allows you to pick your manufacturer, series and model, and it will give you a list of all the schedule services, and a price range of what the service centres (of the car manufacturer) are charging. It will also give you the details of what is completed.

On a side note, although European cars seem on the surface to be expensive to service, looking at the entire picture can be enlightening!
For example, I don't travel any more than 15,000km per year. Which means I'm always servicing based on time rather than km. Over a 6 year period, the cost to service a Toyota Yaris 1.5L Manual is $2319 to $3218. The cost of servicing a VW Golf GTI (MKV) 2.0L Turbo with DSG is $2304 to $2969!

So in other words, the high performance GTI is slightly cheaper than a bog standard Toyota Yaris! I know which one I'd rather be driving

ive got the receipt and its just a standard service, checking everything and putting in new oil and its $395, strange why yours is more...

When was your service done? Maybe there has been a price change?

It was done mid November 09, there could possibly be a price change but is it necessary because $415 for a first service is quite a lot if you ask me, so is what I paid, especially since there isnt anything wrong with the car after 15000kms on the clock.
